Iain Archer recognised on World Tourism Day for his contribution to Andorra

On Saturday 27 September 2025, Skål Club Andorra held its World Tourism Day gala at the UnSQUARE venue in Andorra la Vella and presented a series of honours to celebrate people and organisations shaping tourism in the Principality. Among them: our very own Iain Archer, recognised for nearly three decades of bringing British guests to Andorra and for the foundations he laid long before Andorra Travel Service existed. Why this award matters

Skål highlighted Iain’s “almost 30 years” in Andorra’s tourism story, from arriving as a rep in 1996 to founding Andorra Travel Service in 2005 in Soldeu. In that time he’s helped welcome thousands of British skiers and boarders, built lasting partnerships, and kept the focus firmly on quality experiences in resort. Those early relationships and standards are a big part of why ATS thrives today. SKÅL CLUB D'ANDORRA

A quick look at the evening

The gala, hosted by Skål Club Andorra, gathered sector leaders, institutions and partners to recognise contributions across the board — from major events to mountain tourism and destination development. Alongside Iain, awards went to Spartan Race Andorra, Internova Turisme, Josep Marticella Garcia, and a special homage to Joan Antoni Azurmendi. Photos from the night are available via Skål’s album. From rep to route-setter

  • 1996: Iain arrives in Andorra as a guide/rep

  • 2005: Founds Andorra Travel Service in Soldeu

  • Today: Still helping thousands of guests discover the best of Grandvalira and Pal Arinsal each winter — with an Andorra-based team that’s there when you’re here. SKÅL CLUB D'ANDORRA

Our take

We’re proud of the recognition, and prouder still of the graft behind it. If you’ve ever been met at the transfer, had a ski pack waiting, or been nudged toward a perfect lunch spot on a bluebird day, you’ve felt the impact of the groundwork Iain set years ago. That’s the ATS way: local knowledge, proper service, and a bit of cheek when the moment calls for it.

“Total surprise,” he said. We’re not surprised. Commitment like that tends to show.
